Hiking to Timp Cave

We learned a lot on this adventure.
Some of us are not hikers in the family
and some are naturals and could run the entire way up and still not be tired.
While some of us can make silly faces and just be silly most of the time

The non hiker or princess can bring us all to a nasty face.

David loved the trees growing out of the side of the mountain and couldn't figure out how the roots were half out too.

We had to be creative to get Allison up this mountain. Grandpa tried splashing water to cool her off, which worked for a bit.

Frequent rests helped a little too

Getting a swing through the air momentarily helped, but it was the carrying on the shoulders that prevailed.

David loved finding all the cool rocks (after asking thousands of questions through the cave. We had one incredible guide that let David go crazy asking about rock formations like bacon, popcorn, coral, shining his head lamp in the dark and making sure we all didn't touch the stalagmites and stalagtites). This mushroom rock had to have a picture taken and returned to the natural environment. The kids were junior rangers in training and had promised to leave all the things (except trash) on the mountain.

The view on the way down was beautiful.

When we got to the bottom they made their junior ranger pledge, got a badge and a hat.

They were pretty proud of themselves!
