Fourth of July

Oh how I love parades, and we were able to go to one this year. The last few years we always journey to my home town to go to the parade I have grown to love. We were excited to find one here. We found a shady spot and got settled to see some cars, trucks, John Deere's, a band and to get LOTS of candy.

Allison has not been able to leave the house lately with out a baby and bottle. I guess she is preparing us for the new one to come in the next couple weeks.

So Jodi and Em, we want to know if this is a really smart horse? They were the biggest, bulging eyes we saw in all the horses.

They waved and waved at everything that came by, I think hoping to get more candy. It scored them an otter pop which they thought made the day!

swimming lessons

Swimming lessons have been something the kids have been enjoying every morning (except today...Allison went a little nuts when they had safety training and couldn't actually get in the water). The other day they put a life jacket on her and got her to go off the diving board, spin in circles in the 7 ft deep water, all this came after a bit of crying, but she did it.

David on the other hand, keeps bobbing up and down and proudly told me, "I learned if you keep your head in the water you don't drown, but the rest of your body floats up to help you swim."

REI passport

Another thing we are enjoying this summer is a program through REI. They have these little passports where you document hikes you go on, what you see, the weather, draw a picture, etc. Their website also tells you some local hikes in your area. We found one the other day that was around an island in the middle of the river. We packed a lunch and headed off to see what birds and nature we could document.

It was a warm day, but we heard and saw lots of birds and people coming to the island to fish.

After going on five hikes you send in a postcard to receive a prize. We still have a few to go!

crazy summer days

Summer is here and we are having loads of fun!

We are loving the "kids bowl free" that lets us bowl up to 2 games a day, every day each week all summer long. (check out kidsbowlfree.com to see if you have it in your area) We have only gone twice and both have been quite the experience, good thing there are bumpers.

Allison loves the shoes and the music that plays so she can dance around.
I am not sure the bowling alley will do it again next year, at least David has made huge dents as he is throwing the ball down the lane.
