So crazy.

I'm sure you have read and heard much about the bombing at the Boston Marathon on Monday. I am still shocked by all the events and am really still processing it all. I find it almost unbelievable. We live about an hour from Boston so aren't really in danger, but it is still close (I tell Jill I'm glad we live were we do since we only have to worry about cows and horses getting us). This last weekend was a three-day weekend (Patriots' Day on Monday, a Massachusetts holiday) so we wanted to do something fun. We considered going into Boston to see some of the re-enactments and Patriots' Day events, but decided with the marathon it would be too busy. Instead we went into Boston on Saturday. We saw all the marathon visitors with their bright yellow jackets, taking in Boston, relaxing and touristing before for their race on Monday. Monday we were at Concord, probably 20 minutes from downtown Boston. 

This is so crazy and so sad. It makes me count my blessings and all I have. I feel so sorry for those wounded and hurt. The Richard family was especially hit hard. Their son Martin was killed and their daughter Jane must have new leg prostheses every six months as she grows. This could have been my children or anybody else's. A special fund has been setup for the Richard family here. If you feel like giving, please do so. And count your blessings.

A Saturday Fun Day

There was a ward activity to work at the Boston temple. We planted flowers on the temple grounds. David and Allison were expert gardeners.

Can you believe how much these kids have grown?

We thought it would be fun to take the subway into downtown. Not going to happen again for a long time. There was construction on the tracks, so we had to take a bus, and two subway trips to get into town. But we made it!

At least everyone seemed to have fun.

The Paul Revere house. The real reason we made the trip. David has a school project on Paul, so we were collecting background information.

Easter Pix

A cute friend of mine took some pictures of us on Sunday. We found the one spot of ground that wasn't covered in snow (yippee it is finally starting to melt)

8 months!

Has it really been 8 months?  He sure has gone through a lot in the past few weeks.  Still smiling and making us all laugh.  He is so close to crawling. His favorite trick is to get stuck under beds, couches or chairs. He loves pulling hair and giving kisses to mom. 

He is healing well and moving that arm again like nothing ever happened.

what we do for fun in New England

They still had fun and did well. David is such a sweet boy. See that basket full of eggs. On of his friends at school came after it started. David gave half of his eggs to him so he could still have some treats. He constantly does amazing thoughtful things like this.  What a boy! We are sure glad he is in our family.




Our little candy lover rushed home emptied the candy and ate it all. Here she is Easter morning, once again dumping candy everywhere and eating as much as she can. Her dad says she is a bit like me...hmmm. At least there will always be someone I can share candy with!

Pinewood Derby

 David was so excited with his car creation this year. Being slightly obsessed with the game Minecraft he made a 'creeper mobile'.  I think he was a bit surprised that he actually one a few races. 

Another snow storm

We  just can't seem to stop the snow from coming!  On a recent snow day from school we decided to see how big of a snow man we could make. Bridget took a break to make a snow angel. 

The snow was perfect. We rolled and rolled huge snow balls. They were so heavy though we couldn't lift them. Someone was quite sad, until he figured we could make a sleeping snow man.

 

Allison tried her own smaller one. 

 

These boys are best buddies and cuddled up after a cold morning of playing in the snow.

Christopher's Surgery

 Can you see the difference of this little guys shoulders?

 His left shoulder has a mass of 5 cm.

He had to have a biopsy to see what kind of mass it was....

 He looked so small in his little hospital gown

It was a LONG morning...the hour surgery ended up taking 3 as they couldn't stop his bleeding. 

He was such a little trooper.

They originally only had a small incision, but needed more samples to test, so they had to make it bigger.

So here is the end result.  

The results have finally come back and it is a intramuscular venous malformation.  We now get to go into Boston to a Vascular Malformation Clinic in a few weeks.

A conversation with Bridget

Bridget: "Mom, do you know you have cracks in your eyes."
Me: "I do"
Bridget: "yea, do they hurt?"  she is nose to nose now looking in my eyes
Me: "no, but I bet they would go away if I didn't have to get up so many times in the night"
Bridget: "oh, I have them too, see" pulling her eyelids down.
