Our Family Fun day was decided by Allison this month. All she wanted to do was go to

and play at the play place. Her brother kindly reminded her that that wasn't a full day activity. So we added a museum to the itinerary.

They had a great time playing and pretending. The best part for Allison was the toy that came with the happy meal.

Dad and Bridget seemed to enjoy watching too.

Then we made our way to the museum. It is the only museum in the Western Hemisphere solely dedicated to the collection of arms, armor and art. It was an experience to step back into the Medieval Era.

We were able to see some demonstrations and learn about how the armor is made, how much it ways (about 55 pounds), how long it takes to put on (about 16 minutes) and what knights had to know (wrestling and dancing among them).

The halls were incredible with armor from Roman times onward.

Bridget was even fascinated.

Aaron immediately visited the miniatures, while David was trying to figure out why there were three holes and chains in wood.

Part of the children's room we were able to try on helmets and boy were they HEAVY!

Aaron had to try some on too.

It sure was hard looking out them, the vision is sure limited.

Especially for some little girls.

Bridget also got to try on a few!

We are glad we don't have to wear metal everyday.

But we had fun storming the castle.

or at least playing with them.

David had to try out his bow and arrow in the parking lot.

While Allison sat in the car sipping water out of her princess cup with her new princess ring.

What a fun trip. Tell Allison that Lydia is always asking for "Old McDonald" with chicken and fries as well.
Family fun day sounds like a great idea! Thanks for visiting my blog Jill. It's so fun to be able to keep in touch. I'm going to sign up as a "follower" of your blog so that your new posts come up in my Google reader. I love the pic of B with her face in the hole of the knight costume.
Your kids are soooo cute. What a great idea to do each month.
