pink

We have an official lover of pink. The weather cooled off a bit and we got out the coats. I had picked up a coat for Allison and had to take it back for a PINK one. She put on the new totally pink one and was ready to go outside. She wore it all afternoon, even when we came back inside, hood up and all. Poor thing was sweating when I finally convinced her to take it off. At least I know it keeps her warm.

Drawing

It is becoming a more often event in our home when two little munchkins can play together and share and do so for periods of time. I love it! Well the other day Allison was sitting drawing and David came and asked if he could share the seat and the paper she was using. She happily moved over and shared her paper. How fun it is to see them grow up and like to play together...at least this time.

Our little ninja

The other day Aaron was home sick and upstairs sleeping. I caught David trying to go in and wake him up. He was practicing be quiet and seeing if he could get in without waking anyone up. He usually isn't so quiet and you can hear him coming way before he is there.

So when he came back downstairs and told me, "Mom, I am just practicing my ninja skills." I had to laugh. He actually did make it in and out without Aaron even knowing he was there. Maybe there is a future here.

And here they are....

Let's just start by saying, this is not the expression that has been on this sweet girl's face the last two weeks when we have talked about Halloween and costumes. Every time she has seen the costumes she has run away screaming. So Grandma Deskins must have been praying for a miracle and one happened 10 minutes before we were to leave for trunk or treat. We had been at the grocery store and Allison saw a little boy in his Elmo costume. It must have finally clicked, because she looked at him and said, "boy Elmo, me horse." We got home and she went and put on the pants and vest. I helped her with the horse and skirt, she just wouldn't go for the hat. She ran around the house galloping and trotting. I wouldn't even take it off to drive to trunk or treat in case she wouldn't put it on. (It isn't easy to get car seat belts around a horse head and tail!) Here are some shots of the amazing costumes.

Everyone loved watching them walk away as their tails would swish and waggle back and forth.

Allison loved chasing her little lion friend who would roar at her and then turn and feed her horse candy from his hat full of candy. She would then pretend that the horse was eating.

The change of attitude may not be so evident, but it is like night and day. Maybe this photo from this morning will show it more. I resulted to bribing her with candy just to put the costume on for a picture, she was still not happy.

But after she got the candy she would at least sort of smile.

David had a party yesterday with preschool and our play group. Here he is with his teachers. I was able to go and help in his room. We had such a fine time playing Halloween games and making bat books and glitter spider webs.

At play group Allison wouldn't wear her horse, but would wear the cowgirl skirt, hat and vest. Here she is at least warming up to David's horse and being willing to touch it.

We had so much fun carving more pumpkins. David and Allison were so proud of them and how neat they looked when they were lit with candles.

sick and with a mustache

David has been sick all day and then I made him go to the post office.
He didn't think it was so bad after he got a fake mustache from the postal lady.
Poor guy still looks tired and sick.

Do we have dogs?

David and Allison discovered the doggy door and how to open it yesterday. They kept pretending they were dogs and going in and out. Then David told me, it is good they are dogs because he is allergic to them.

David and Aaron had a fun time carving the small pumpkin, which took a total of maybe 10 minutes. David wanted a picture with the light showing, so you get to see the blurry one. The pumpkin, "Punky", looks a lot bigger in these photos. A tea light barely fits through the big eye, that is also where they took out all the seeds.

Field trip to the pumpkin patch

David's preschool had the annual field trip to the pumpkin patch to pick their pumpkins that they will be carving this week with Dads. I can't wait to see what they come up with. David chose the smallest green pumpkin he could find. It is about the size of a baseball. He wants it to be carved like an alien head. Good luck Aaron!

While we were waiting for the hay ride, Allison tried out her skills of balancing and sitting on all the pumpkins around.

Then David had to join in and pose with the pumpkins.

David was so cute. As his class went in to the maze he asked Allison if she would like to hold his hand so she wouldn't get lost.

They had so much fun they went through twice!

The petting zoo was fun too. David was determined to pet the hairy enormous pig.

Here is the final pumpkin Allison chose, vines and all. It was a beautiful fall day, we had so much fun that Allison fell asleep on the way home.

a book lover

One of my favorite things is to see David or Allison enjoying books. The other day I came downstairs to see Allison engrossed in this book. She was so excited to show me all the dogs on every page. Garrett this is the book for you! The Younger Brother's Survival Guide.

Daddy Takes Charge

Hello all. This is a guest post from Aaron (Daddy). Jill is away on our ward's women's retreat. She asked me to take pictures, so I've thoroughly documented all I can. Mostly this post is for the other dads out there. My advice: clone yourself or put security cameras in every room of the house so you always know what your children are doing.

Here's how the night Jill left went.

David got a hold of the tape and decided to make him some shoes like Dora so he could walk up the walls.




Allison found the salt. I guess she thought it would taste good and decided to chomp down. I would have taken a picture of her beautiful face, but I decided that I better give her some water and clean her up so she wouldn't choke on the foaming salt coming out of her mouth.



While cleaning up the salt mess, she found the cookies.



But at least we made it to the Elder's Quorum paper airplane party.

a big brown box

We came home to find this big brown box on the porch. David and Allison started jumping up and down, they knew it was there Halloween costumes. You will have to wait until Halloween to see the most amazing costumes you have ever seen. They are absolutely incredible! Thanks Grandma Deskins, we can't wait to wear them!

Worms

We were cleaning up the backyard the other day and David and Allison discovered WORMS!

They thought they were pretty cool and would point to them, but not touch them.

They couldn't believe how long they could be and then how instantly they could get short.

Allison couldn't get enough of the worms.

At preschool they were dancing for David all around him. He felt pretty special and had to wear his stickers all afternoon.

Our Version of Guitar Hero

David and Allison found some rubber bands the other day and had fun making noises with them and stretching them. Then David got creative and wanted to make a guitar.

So the next day this is what we came up with.

Don't you love Allison in all pink. She is in LOVE with pink and will only wear pink. I had to take the car seats out to drive some other kids to the church. They thought the car seats were the best part of playing their guitars.
