Family Fun Day: Boston

Our Family Fun Day for February was more like a weekend. We started with a sleep over at a hotel. The kids were so excited! They have fond memories of sleeping in hotels for weeks and had been missing it. However, one night reminded me that we could pass on a hotel for a while and I would still be happy.

We had some laughs as Allison made her hair like an octupus.

And Bridget reminded us how to do some yoga to calm down from all the laughter.

With some sleep behind us (very little) and a very nutritious breakfast (ha ha) we were off.

Our first stop: The Boston Temple

A family fun day wouldn't be the same without going through a tunnel. We found a long one on the way into our second stop.

The Boston Children's Museum.

It was a beautiful day along the water!

The first thing inside was a giant structure the kids climb up three stories and back down. Allison wasn't so sure about it and the MOBS of kids that were in it. She waited to try it on the way out when a lot of the crowd had left.

We explored places to build

and be creative.

I had to take a picture of this. I was laughing so hard when I took Allison to the bathroom in the family bathroom and on the wall was framed a collection of poo samples. I guess you can always be learning!

Allison stopped on our way out when she heard a bunch of funny words coming out of an exhibit, which she thought was a phone. When I told her one word was in French she sat down, picked up the phone and thought she was calling her friend Lydia in France. She sat there for 10 minutes telling the phone all about what she saw, the dolls by the phone and how much she wanted to play dolls with her. Finally she asked why Lydia was only saying Au Revoir.

David took his hand at trying to lift himself up. He did a great job, once he was down he declared. I am starving, let's eat!

We took a break from the crowds and enjoyed our lunch outdoors.
Bridget was happy snoozing or watching people from the stroller.

In Red Sox country we had to take pictures, and I am sure we will some day have to buy shirts too.

We had fun playing in water and sand. Allison could have spent hours playing in the water and filling up the different jars.

While David was loving making paths for golf balls or discovering why they speed up when placing them higher on a ramp.

Aaron enjoyed playing too.

David was the only one that could start a ball from this spot and make it go to the other side of the room over four hills. Allison's balls couldn't make it past the first hill.

They have a 100 year old Japanese house to tour. It was fascinating. They had taken the home apart in Koyto and taken six months to rebuild it in the museum. We entered, taking off our shoes, to learn how the home had been built with out nails and that it was made out of wood, straw and paper.

Allison took the chance to try out the bed.
She wasn't too excited about their toilet (which was only 30 years old)

There was an entire room full of bubbles with all sorts of differing ways to blow different shapes and sizes of bubbles.

In the construction zone David took his turn at driving a Bobcat, or trying to see what it would be like.
We had a great time discovering and learning as a family!

You must go to a Red Sox Game....so cool, they have one of the oldest remaining orginial baseball stadiums...add that to your family fun outing!!! And buy a Boston dog (hot dog) while you are there. Jill,
It's so good to get caught up with your family. I can't believe how big A and D are getting. And B looks exactly like A. It's good to see that you all are doing well.
