Decorating cookies

We spent one night decorating sugar cookies to give away.
David had fun seeing how much candy he could put on them.

Gingerbread house

Each day this month we have been doing an activity as a family. It has been keeping us BUSY along with all the other daily activities. One activity was to make a gingerbread house.

We had such a fun time laughing and putting tons of candy on...but I guess I didn't bake the gingerbread long enough or maybe it was too much candy...

I heard a crash and this is what I found

some of the roof on the table. I quickly grabbed the camera and snapped a few pictures.

It didn't all fall until a few days and after we actually ate some of it.

Where did November go?

Here are a few highlights.
We had planned on having an adult Halloween party...but it was snowed out and post-poned until after Halloween. Amazingly people still dressed up. Here is what we were.

We were out doing yard work and the kids found this in the neighbors yard and decided to pretend they were wild animals.

We went to a Costume parade at the local craft store.
Allison and David won for the most crafty costume,
too bad they were the only two in the parade.

The kids went to a fun Halloween party last week

before I had the costume all the way done,
hence the letters falling off and David wearing last years costume.

snow already!

Nothing says Halloween like a huge snowstorm the day before, oh wait that is Christmas! This storm was crazy it canceled church, school and put many out of power...we got covered with more than a foot!This was only after a few hours

In the morning the kids jumped up and had to get out in it.

This use to be a nice tall tree we had. Good thing we were going to pull it out.

Miss Bridget was happy to bundle up and stay cozy and warm...and then go and join them after she heard their screeches of delight.

corn maze

We had so much fun visiting a local corn maze. Bridget was mesmerized with the bracelet they gave each of us. She just couldn't figure it out.

Allison sported her sunglasses, always an essential item when you are out on an overcast day.

Our trip included a hayride

past a pumpkin patch, apple trees and a lake

They had a corn cannon we took a try at. They would shove a corn cob down the metal tube and then you aimed for a target up in the trees and fired. David loved it!

It all started last summer when grandpa was feeding the dog next door and he gave Bridget a dog biscuit to give the dog...but she ate it.

An afternoon in Boston

We were driving a friend to Boston ( I guess really two friends...we had Flat Stanley with us too)the other day so we decided to stay for the afternoon and finally take a ride on the Subway...something David has been DYING to do. We drove around until we found a place to park close to a station and went from there. Our adventure led us from Boston University to Boston Commons and Boston Public Garden. David thought the subway was the greatest thing. He loved the crowded nature, not finding a seat and starting and stopping. Some of the others were so happy with it.

We then made our way over to the Gardens, enjoyed a quick rainstorm and found what I was looking for...

Make Way for Ducklings statue.

It is after the children's book "Make Way for Ducklings", which just so happens to be the Children's book for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

We made our way back had dinner and had a fun time getting lost trying to pick up our friend to get her home again. What an adventure!

The Greatest Show on Earth

We ended the weekend with "The Greatest Show on Earth", yep...the Circus.

It was fun to see the kids eyes get big when the clowns came out on stilts, or the elephants pretended to fall down (David especially liked this since one of them pooped and he had just been wondering how big an elephant poop was)

We were amazed at what people and their bodies could do!

Davis Farmland

We had great weather over Columbus Day weekend and we took advantage. We headed out Saturday morning to Davis Farmland and spent the ENTIRE day! We started the day out with feeding the baby cows and goats.

David had gone a field trip here and had heard about the "goat carts" you peddle. That was the first place he wanted to head. So we beat the crowd and had the track to ourselves. The kids tried every color cart and had a great time.
It was such a warm day they still had the water/sprinkler part open. Unfortunately we didn't know that and had no swim suits...which didn't stop the kids from exploring

and eventually getting drenched!

There were tons of playgrounds, bouncy houses, hay rides, animals to feed

and pretending they were bugs!

The only thing Bridget learned was to not stick her finger out or they would bite!
We ended the night with some apple picking!

We get to back for the corn maze still...we can't wait!
