First day of school

We were so excited for the first day of school we were up bright and early!
Allison had enough time to read some books to Christopher.
He loved it!

Despite the rainy weather outside, Allison was so excited she was ready and in the car 30 minutes early.  Hope her enthusiasm continues!

Bridget was a little nervous about it all. She came in my room early this morning and asked if David and Allison had to go to school ALL day, she was going to miss them!

Allison with her her 1st grade teacher.

David is in a new school for 3rd grade, he was excited to meet his teacher this morning.

Birthday for dad

Yesterday was Dad's birthday and the last day before school started.  Aaron wanted donuts for breakfast and some time as a family. The donuts were YUMMY!

 How about those furrowed brows?

Little bug

 What are you thinking?

Bridget was fascinated by his yawns and had to try it herself.

A trip to Alaska

David had a brilliant idea (or he thought) to go on a trip to Alaska...by walking there...more precisely to the Yukon. That is on the other side of where we are. He got out maps and figured out how he was going to get there, made peanut butter sandwiches for everyone and loaded up the sleds.
He convinced his sisters that they all needed there snow clothes and boots. So he dug out all the winter stuff. They put them on over the shorts (it was 90 outside) and started out the door.

This as far as they got.  They were too hot and needed a popsicle. Allison and Bridget didn't want to leave and miss Christopher growing up without them.

David's comment: "they didn't get that I was just pretending. We weren't really going to Alaska"

David's idea came from yet another Calvin and Hobbes book.

Our little sleeper

Christopher has some very serious expressions, even while he sleeps.

Brithday Girl

After Grandma and Grandpa left we celebrated a little more.

The library had a rescued kitty coming and a book that was written about her, Toto the Tornado Kitty. Allison really wanted to go.  Our cute librarian had a gift for her, a crown and she was the first to hold and pet Toto!
 Bridget wasn't so sure.
As  you can tell Toto is no longer a kitty, but a cat that loves to eat bananas and hot dogs.

The mini Grand Canyon

There's a nice trail in Rutland which David calls the mini Grand Canyon.

Fun at the rock show

David, Allison, Bridget, Grandpa and Dad recently went to a rock and mineral show. We love our rocks!
Panning for rocks and fossils.

A few more pics

Happy brother and sisters...can't wait to hold him.
On the way home from the hospital.

Bridget thought he needed a friend to sleep with.

We can't get enough of him. It is a fight to see who can hold him.

David's idea of the grand canyon

The other day we went on a walk on a trail through our little town...a part I had never been on. David and Aaron had gone on it a few days prior and were sure that I needed to see the most amazing thing...the grand canyon of the East.  It was beautiful! Very green and somewhat high rocky walls and the path between them.

We stopped to see salamanders and frogs.

It use to be an old railway track, David says this is an old stop or sign from then.

Blueberries and goats

One of the things "to do" this summer was to pick blueberries.  Off we went on a tractor ride to the blueberries, picked lots of yummy berries, ate some and brought a lot home.  The kids also loved to feed the baby goats. Fun family times.

Another day at the Cape

We were able to spend another day at the beach with friends.
What fun...Bridget wanted to be buried with a mermaid tail.

Ending the day with a yummy ice cream!
