the cabin

We love spending time at our family cabin each summer. Playing in trees, feeding chipmunks, playing at the lakes, and winning prizes from games. This year it rained a lot! David was still thrilled with his lemonhead chapstick.

The best part of all was spending time with Jen and laughing like the old times.
We were glad to see her and Darran for a week, wish it was longer.

Shepherder's Bathtub

A visit to Idaho isn't complete without a trip to the Shepherder's bathtub. A hot spring with a wonderful smell (David said, "eww it is like rotten eggs"). They would only stick their feet in.

working for a living

David had the opportunity to find his new passion, mowing lawns. He helped grandpa mow his lawn and was very confident in telling his abilities. He proudly told me he would be in charge of making our new yard look great, because he would be the lawn mower...with Daddy watching to help if needed.

David and Allison were amazed they finally got to go in a temple. Have recently been built we were able to tour the new Oquirrh Mountain Temple. It was beautiful. It was a great experience to go with Grandma and Grandpa Deskins. They are still talking about it, and the yummy cookies they got at the end.

visiting family

What fun it is to visit family and see the amazing things cousins are doing as they grow older. My nieces are the cutest and are VERY interested in horses. We were able to tag along on a photo shoot and see the horses they take lessons with and the stables where they are at.

Buds! David had such a good time being with his cousin. He just couldn't get enough of him.

Lady Washington and Hawaiian Chieftain

Saturday morning we had this great time touring two sailing ships, the Lady Washington and the Hawaiian Chieftain. Both are tall ships with about 10-11 sails and 112 feet long. Although it was hot, Aaron kindly stood in line and waited the 45 minutes, while we sat in the shade.

As we walked down the dock, David was so excited. He thought for sure pirates would jump out or shoot cannons. He soon realized that it was only some crew members, lots of ropes and small beds.

After he had a try at driving the ship, he confidently stated "I could live on one of these forever."

Once down inside the other boat and seeing what they ate, I think he had second thoughts about living on a ship, but a ride would be nice he decided.

A walk by the river

After visiting a park the other day, David insisted we take a walk to look at the boats. On the way we had to rest (after all it was a hot day and we had walked maybe 100 steps). David and Allison found this fun rock and had to jump on and start smiling.

David wanted to try his hand at photography.

He thought one of people was enough, but rocks are much more interesting.

Allison wanted to take a picture too. She liked the big rock without anyone on it.

Preschool Graduation

As David was preparing for his preschool graduation he came home from school and decided he needed some family to come and see him, he was going to wear a real "night gown" (cap and gown). After calling grandpa and grandma the day before his preschool graduation. They surprised him and showed up a few hours before the big event. What an event it was! We went to dinner to celebrate and arrived at the school a few minutes early. To get some of the energy out, David stepped onto the track.

We got inside and waited patiently for the program to begin.

The curtains opened to two classes from David's school sitting and ready to take us on a trip down memory lane, okay of the events that took place this past year in their school. Songs and nursery rhymes began.

David is in green on the second row. They are doing the Month Macarena.


Off they go to kindergarten.

The procession starts and David makes his way down towards the stage.

Calling his name he crosses the stage and takes his diploma from his teachers.

He did it! I can't believe preschool is over and he will be on his way to kindergarten.

We are so proud of him.

He made many good friends and learned a lot.

After a few more pictures we made it home to end with dessert of individual graduation cap cakes.

They proved to be yummy. How fun it was to have grandma and grandpa come to celebrate with us.

After a warm weekend, David used some of his birthday money to buy a little pool for the backyard. Of course we had to come blow it up and fill it up. Too bad the day had a high of 70 I think. They still braved the cold water and were jumping in, for about 5 minutes.

Father/Son campout

While Aaron and David were away last weekend camping. Allison and I had fun and did a bit of shopping. One of the things we found was a pink cover up, which she promptly put on and wore over her clothes all day like it was a dress. She had to have the hood up and roast in the hot weather.
When Aaron and David returned, David had fallen asleep and was that way in the car for a few hours. They must have had a great time, or very little sleep.
